Does international location affect chances?

I'm a high school student in the Arabian Gulf applying to study History at Oxford in 2024 and I'm wondering if the country/region I'm from affects my chances in any way. My country is small and few students are actually fluent in English, and the humanities (especially History) are unpopular in the Gulf. Would this make my chances any better?
No, selection criteria at Oxford is all based on academic ability and potential. Your background and country etc., makes no difference.
