I am at LJMU doing IT :p:

It's NCTJ accredited, so the professional body must think it's of a reasonable standard (gives all the skills, knowledge and qualities needed for professional journalism)

Hi,
LJMU is 94th place in the Times league table for Universities. I'm not too keen on it being so contemporary, what do you think?

I've applied for Journalism at John Moores but in honesty is it that of a good course? Who else has applied and did you have to do some admissions tasks?

Thanks

Ignore the league tables.
As someones already said, its accredited by the NCTJ so it can't be that bad! I've said it before and i'll say it again - league tables mean nothing when it comes to journalism as so few 'good' (and by good I mean the ones towards the top of the table) do it. Judge it on the course content, what you think about the university and whether you think you'll be happy there living in the area!

So those applying for Journalism, what would you like to be? I'd like to be a Screenwriter.. there are only 45 places at John Moores though :frown:

I've just dropped out of Journalism at LJMU.

Why, did you drop out? Oh dear, what I am letting myself in for?

By the way if you do a degree in journalism can you specialise in the field you want to work in? For example, if you want to be a screenwriter it wouldn't be that helpful to focus on newspaper journalism or magazine journalism etc.

Thanks

I dropped out mainly because of reasons with my acommodation and things but I didn't really enjoy the course. We were never formally introduced to our tutors or anything and it was dead....distant?? I dunno maybe it was just me!
Oh right. Were you learning a specific type of journalism or could you choose what you wanted to do. I like the idea of screenwriting you see but does it really cater for that? Can I ask what was wrong with the accomadation?

So many questions

Not sure if they cater for screen writing. I know in your final yr you can choose to do photography, sports journalism or PR. Email the department, I think they'd get back to you on any questions you may have! Ughh the acommodation was grotty lol
