If this information isn't provided in the invitation, it would be best to contact the admissions team at the university to ask. Bear in mind that the university's admin departments will probably not be open now till 3rd January.

Bear in mind that you might not be there for the interview itself; there might be other things you'll be doing -- perhaps a chance to chat with current students on the course, maybe a tour, ...

When booking a ticket, make sure you make allowances for things running late on the day, and time to get from the interview location back to the station. You don't want to be worrying about missing your train if there's a delay during the day.

You don't say how far you need to travel -- if you don't already have a railcard, it's worth looking into whether getting one would save you money on the trip. If you're under 18, a 16-17 railcard will cost £30 and gets you 50% off most rail fares every day of the year with no time restrictions and no minimum fare. If you're aged between 18 and 25, look at the 16-25 railcard. That costs £30, and gives a one-third discount on most fares; but has a minimum fare of £12 for journeys starting between 4:30am and 10am Monday-Friday.

Depending on the trip an off peak open return would normally mean that you can get any train back. It wouldn’t give you reserved seats on the way back though (but on lots of train routes that either isn’t an option or ends up being pointless because the trains get cancelled anyway)

On top of the advice above - look into plusbus - it’s often cheaper than paying for bus fares to and from the station at your destination

Hello there,

I hope your interview went well.

The in-person art interview will offer a mini Open-Day experience for applicants who will have the opportunity to see a presentation about the course they are applying to, information about the school, tours of the school workshops and facilities and presentations about student support, wellbeing, finance and careers.

Normally it will last for a few hours, but please allow more time for yourself if you are taking public transport, as Cardiff Met Llandaff campus is 30 minutes bus ride from the centre.

Should you have any questions, please contact us via [email protected] and we will be able to assist you.

Cardiff Met Admissions. 😁
