How to get a good grade in paper 2 GCSE English language?

Hi guys, I know it's a bit late yo post this but I have a mock from English language paper 2.
This means I have to write an article/newspaper/letter/speech etc.
When it comes to writing and thinking of ideas, it's okay..
..however to reach good marks what kind of language or techniques should I use lots of??? (e.g. statistics, emotive language)

another question is how do you use emotive language to persuade? such as in a speech or letter that is directed as formal? it just doesn't fit and it cringes me out if I put something unfitting in a formal text?
