You can take a conversion course (GDL) to gain a qualifying UK law degree and/or take the Solicitors qualifying exams (SQE) to qualify as a solicitor in the UK.

You do not have to take the GDL but in order to qualify as a solicitor the SQE has to be taken. Or Legal practice course (LPC) if you are eligible to take it.

Hi @pratheush

You can either take a conversion course (PGDL) and then do the SQE course and exams. Once this is done you will have to do the 2 years work experience and then you will be qualified.

Or, if you think you have a strong base knowledge you can sit the SQE without the law conversion. However, this really depends on whether you think your law degree from India will have prepared you sufficiently on English law as the pass rate of the SQE is not very high (although more manageable!)

I hope this helps and good luck 🙂
