Social theory departments for MA, MPhil?

hi all

anyone have suggestions for strong social theory departments in the UK? i'm looking to do a master's and then phd in the area (my BA's in philosophy).

i've visited social theory MA seminars at birmingham and warwick, but was a little disappointed by the standard of their taught MAs. the sussex taught MA in social & political thought seems good, and includes dedicated modules in Recent Social Theory and the Frankfurt School, but a year in brighton might not be financially viable.

any input much appreciated. i'm considering either a good taught MA, or convincing a department to take me on for an MPhil.
