Imperial College London is one of the world's top 10 universities in the heart of one of the most iconic cities. As the only UK university to specialise in science, engineering, maths, medicine and business, our degrees open doors and our discoveries change lives.
But we're so much more than laboratories and league tables – Imperial is a place where you can discover what makes you happy. The passions and pursuits that will shape your life and the people who will share it, from sport and music to volunteering and learning languages.
If that sounds like your kind of place, you're probably our kind of person.
COVID-19 Information
Information for the 2021-22 academic year
We hope that by the time you join us in autumn 2021, many of the major restrictions in place to prevent the rise of Coronavirus cases will have been lifted, thanks to the vaccine rollout programme being well underway in the UK.
However, we are continuing to ensure that we have contingency plans in place for all possible scenarios.
We will keep our plans under continuous review, guided by the UK Government and by our own Covid response team who have played an active role in informing national and international policy to keep people safe.
If you're joining us for the first time in autumn 2021, please visit our COVID-19 information for applicants and offer holders webpages. If you’re a returning student please visit our current students COVID-19 information pages – they have more specific information for you.
Location
Imperial's main campus is located in South Kensington, on the site where the original College was founded in 1907.
South Kensington is at the heart of 'Albertopolis', the realisation of Prince Albert’s vision for an area where science and the arts would come together.
As a result, South Kensington is prime sightseeing land. So you may find yourself rubbing shoulders with tourists on Exhibition Road (where three world famous museums are located) on the approach to campus. You will have the advantage of being able to visit these attractions at your leisure. You will also enjoy discounted access to the museums' special exhibitions with your Imperial student card.
Take a look at Discover South Kensington for all the latest information on events in our neighbourhood, and check out this blog post from student blogger Lorna to find out the best places to eat near campus!
Imperial has been building its support for entrepreneurially-minded students and early career researchers with the Imperial Enterprise Lab and Imperial Advance Hackspace.
Imperial Bursary
Up to £5,000/year is available for Home undergraduate students through our Imperial Bursary scheme. Provided your annual household income remains under £60,000, you may automatically qualify for funding on a sliding scale (between £2,000 and £5,000) for every year that your course lasts.
The Imperial Bursary scheme does not distinguish between students living at home and those living away from home; it’s also paid on top of any Government funding you may also be eligible for – and you don’t have to pay it back.
There is no separate application for the bursary – to be eligible you must have your household income assessed each year by the Student Loans Company by applying for government finance e.g. maintenance loan through your regional funding body.
Student Support Zone
We think you’ll have an amazing time at Imperial. But it would be surprising if you felt like that all the time. None of us do. So for times when you do need a helping hand – with managing your money, with accommodation, with your personal wellbeing, with anything really – we’re here for you.
We also have a dedicated Student Support Zone, which is your ultimate guide to the support available for you at the College.
Careers Service
Imperial currently holds the top spot for graduate employability in The Guardian University Guide 2021 – and we’re committed to maintaining this success.
Our Careers Service is on hand to support your career planning from your very first day and for up to three years after graduation.
