Legal Practice Course Funding 2011/12

Asking on behalf of my flatmate who is stressing out a hell of a lot. We both read law, he wants to enroll on the LPC next year, I don't - which is why my knowledge is limited.

I understand:
Natwest have withdrawn their career development loans this year, with the exclusion of BPP?
Barclays and Co-op only offer career development funding of £10,000.

Considering tuition fee's are £10,000 Neither Barclays or Co-op will be able to provide him with the financial standing to even buy a sandwhich after paying tuition fees... let alone paying for food & rent for the year.

So, how are you guys funding it? And what options does he have?

He's really been stressing out about this so any help at all would be welcome :smile:

I found this post on Trainee Solicitor that might help. It's from 2006 but some of the advice is still useful, especially:

Sponsorship

Many larger firms sponsor students to take the LPC and some will also make a contribution to accommodation or other living expenses. For example, Jones Day provide a maintenance grant of £8,000 whilst you take the LPC.
