Do I need to study an English/Publishing degree if I want to work in book publishing?

It's in the title really! I've done some work experience in a publishing house and really enjoyed it. I'd love to be an editor but am not sure what to study at uni, apart from english. I'm considering oxford brookes because apparently it's got a great reputation for publishing degrees... but do i actually need a publishing degree?

Nope. I'm just about to start a job in publishing and my degree is in Politics and American Studies. One word of advice though, get as much work experience as you can to build on the experience you already have (either in a library, or at a university newspaper or something similar) as without it you'll find it very hard to get into publishing.
