Question about Hampstead
I know it is a particular question, that should still interest those of you, who will be living at Hampstead from mid September.
In the residence guide it says that Hampstead does not have bedroom connections for Student's computers, but a "common area wireless"
Does that mean I can connect to the internet?
If so, what will that cost?
What hardware (for Mac) do I need?
Appreciate your help and I will see you all in 9 days.

For an Apple Mac you'd need an Airport or Airport Extreme card. The newest ones come with them built in, but may be an option for older ones. Worst case, the older Airport cards can be had for around £50-60. Have a look at:

I have a relatively new powerbook (-> airport card built in)
Do I need an airport express or airport extreme base station
or can I connect to the HAMPSTEAD net (if in fact it is one, the link you posted only listed chancery lane library and guys campus) just with the built in card?
what exacly is this "Common Area Wireless"?
Is it an intranet just for the Hall of Residence?
Can I connect to the internet through it?
