You can also get UCAS points from dropped AS Levels and other things e.g. high music grades, and other courses

Also includes subjects like general studies + critical thinking which are compulsory at a lot of schools. What are the actual entry requirements for the course? Still 13% isn't that many of the people on the course.

Haha we are screwed if they're geniuses  I think some people had between 650 to 700 UCAS points when I checked :s-smilie: I used to think 360 UCAS points was the most anyone could get

Remember that this is the actual UCAS tariff on entry - which is not the same as the entry requirements, and as others have pointed out many of the higher scoring students will have subjects like General Studies and/or Critical Thinking which a lot of unis aren't interested in and often specifically exclude from offers. For the purposes of this statistic, however, the points from these will be included.

So - offer of AAA excluding General Studies (360) but student actually gets AAA (360) plus an A in General Studies, which would take him/her to 480 points. Add on the 50 or 60 points they are likely to have got for an AS they dropped and you can begin to see that the profile of someone in that 520-599 category isn't quite as scary as you think
