Thanks for the advice. I loathe the trapezium rule. In C4, with all the new integration techniques we learn, it is absolutely pointless, a sort of filler to add marks to the test.

Can't complain though, it's a guaranteed 6 or so marks.
To be fair, the trapezium rule (but more so Simpon's rule) can be remarkably accurate for most functions. Accurate enough to be a reliable check for any integration questions on C3 or C4 (or applied modules).

In all maths exams, after I check through my workings once, I always try and come up with an alternative method which gets the same answer. And if I've done it, checked it, and done it another way, I can be almost 100% certain of the answer.

So using dot product, quotient, IBP, approximation rules, geometry, series (and the infamous differentiate your integral or integrate your differential) outside of their usual place helps me loads.

I don't think I could be a language teacher, corrected two people's essays today and imagining doing 20-30 of that every week... :wtf:
New love and respect for my teachers

Are you ok on that question now? It's nothing more than SOH CAH TOA and pythag but it's not easy, especially if you aren't used to that type of question.

Hi everybody, hope we're all having a good enough Easter >.<

Any Biologists up in here, what's the best way to revise Unit 2? (I do Edexcel AS Biology by the way) and I find Schlerenchyma, Mitosis, Xylem, Phloem and Collenchyma don't mean anything to me, and I can't seem to find an effective enough way of getting it all into my head

I do however find Chemistry quite fun to revise so I can help with anyone who needs Chemistry help

I need help in Edexcel chemistry but I need to get other subjects out of the way. I got 43 out of 80 in my unit 1 mock so I'm really scared.

I don't do Edexcel Biology (I do AQA). Do you have the CGP revision guide for Edexcel Biology? Use that? There isn't much to understand at AS Biology, you just need to memorise everything.

Don't worry about that at all, did you do the January 2012 paper as the mock? The grade boundaries were low for that paper, and if I recall correctly that is like a C or a D? and I have the same struggle of balancing all my subjects too I have German and Chemistry exams on the same day too. Either way, I did a lot worse than 43/80 in my mock. I got 26 But my teacher isn't worried about me which gives me a bit of hope, I had a bad day but the best thing is for me to stop making excuses and just work really hard because I can change that U grade if I work hard enough, and you can up your grade too.

There are assessed practicals you can do well in, and also, have you been through the mark scheme for your mock yet? Sometimes people make facepalmable mistakes that they usually wouldn't make. We can all learn from our mistakes though

No I don't have CGP guides for anything this year, I just have textbooks. My teachers didn't recommend the CGP, infact they discourage use of it, but the other day I was flicking through the CGP guide for Chemistry and I did a good solid few hours of work which I found really useful and productive, so I might buy the CGP guides for Biology too but is it worth it considering exams are just a month away? And yeah, but it's just so much stuff to memorise that it feels like my head is going to explode or something

How are you going about your revision and what subjects do you do?
