Maths question, help!

I've got maths homework and one question is: A stone is released 50m above the ground, from a hot air balloon which is descending vertically at 4m/s. Calculate the following, the velocity of the object as it hits the ground, the time taken for it to hit the ground and the height of the balloon when the stone hits the ground.
Thanks. :smile:

Do you know the suvat equations? Write down which things you know, and what you need to find, and see what equation is the most suitable.

s=ut+0.5at^2
v^2=u^2+2as
v=u+at

You know u, a and s
