Ah hi there  wow you're not gonna go for a free degree in Scotland? Sorry if that's rude to ask. I only need DDM as I'm doing a music diploma with an english a level alongside. I also studied Japanese in Australia where I grew up so I know a bit

Japanese is only offered at Edinburgh University in Scotland, so I'd rather go to somewhere (like SOAS) that specialises in my subject!! No it's not rude to ask, everyone gets shocked when the hear that i'm choosing an English degree over a Scottish one!
I don't really know much Japanese at all!!

Hi everyone

I'm a mature student (25) & recently received a conditional offer for BA Japanese - so excited as I've been trying to get onto the course for ages! I finished an Access To Higher Education course in December and got the results back a few weeks ago - distinctions in all of my exams & in all but one of my assignments, so I should meet their offer of 30 credits at distinction plus 15 at distinction or merit. Just waiting for UCAS to pass on my results to SOAS now!

London can be pretty expensive but I know there is a Sainsburys very near to SOAS and I think if you stick to supermarkets for food & stock up on staples (like rice, pasta, etc), it should be do-able. I'm used to being broke a lot anyway, lol.

Congratulations on your offer!
re groceries, shopping online with Ocado is also amazingly affordable..
are you going to be in uni accommodations?
I just got an offer from SOAS for BA International Relations, they're not my first choice but it's nice to get an offer lol.

Ah i see! I got my application in alot later than that just after closing date actually but SOAS advised me they were still accepting applicants, so i applied! They are my first choice as i believe they are my best bet for korea language!
Got an email asking for proof of my grades.

WHY DON'T THEY BELEIVE ME? !?

SOAS received my application on the 13th December, approx. 3 weeks after i had sent it of. I applied to do BA Int. Relations but i haven't heard anything back yet. Is this a bad sign?
I was thinking about ringing them and asking them but i don't want to come across as impatient or something. This is too stressful - SOAS was meant to be my number 1, if i get in.
Advice please.

I am hoping to secure a place at uni accommodations as well... if I get in!!
SOAS is my first choice, so I am hoping to get in... Will probably only hear from them end of Feb/March as I only sent in my application in January.

SOAS is my only choice, haha. My tutor sent my application off in November & I got my offer last week, so yeah, it seems to take a few months.

Is it just me or is Dinwiddy the only affordable option? Everything else seems to be £180 upwards per week, which adds up to loads per year :frown:

Hey! I sent mine off on the 19th and received an offer just yesterday! So, don't worry! I know it's difficult but try to be patient, they are known to be pretty slow! They will get back to within this month or next month! As long as your predicted grades match and your person statement was relevant and good, you shouldn't worry! It's not a bad sign! Keep Calm and Carry On Try not to stress, I know it's easy to say than to do, but seriously! Just try to be positive and practical simultaneously! You'll be fine!

Just got an email asking me to verify my high school grades that I have already achieved in order to continue processing my application. Hopefully this is a good sign, since I've already waited over a month
