Best places to find a part time job

I have applied to countless places and most of the time never hear back from them. Which retailers/other employers are always hiring for someone with little experience.

Mcdonalds seem to take on a lot of students. I think places like kfc, burger king and subway might be similar. Not the most glamorous places ever but not as bad as you think.
Also look in shop windows as places sometimes advertise there. Also look in local newspapers.
I know card factory seems to be advertising a lot for christmas staff at the moment- they are around me anyway, so im guessing its similar elsewhere. Its worth a try there- at least its a start and it could become permanent.
