Talybont- 2014 Postgrad applicants

Hey,
Any post grad applying to the Talybont Residencies? I'm a little torn between the South, and Court residency.
Any suggestion, information would be really helpful.
South has a better party scene apparently...and overall, more active socially..Court is expensive, posh, bigger rooms etc...but less social.read on the internet. so wouldnt know how accurate it is...

Hi everyone,

I am considering both Liberty Cambrian Point and Student Castle Cardiff. Does anyone have experiences in living in either one of those accommodations? Thanks :-)

Private is more expensive. I am currently living in Liberty House which is private, and lived in Taly South in first year. I tend to recommend Taly South to new first years because of the social atmosphere and good mix of students from different courses. But as a postgrad, I don't know if you still want a party atmosphere?
If you want somewhere a bit more chilled, then Taly Court may be better. The rooms are bigger, and the flats in general are much nicer. Talybont in general is a good place to live in first year, it's the place to be. Even if you're not into the whole clubbing thing, it has a very good atmosphere for socialising.

Which private accommodations were you thinking of? I only know of Liberty Living in Cardiff.

I guess it also depends on your course, since you'll want to be close to your building. Again though, I always tell first years that they'll want to be close to the city centre and SU, simply for ease of exploring the city and going to the events in the SU. As a first year you'll want to explore the city a bit.

I've never heard of Student Castle Cardiff, but had a quick look at their website. Its location is much closer to the city centre, so I guess it depends on what you're studying and how close you are to your building. You may wish to be closer to the city centre (and Cardiff Bay). The prices for both accommodation also seem similar.

I can however vouch for Liberty Cambrian Point and say that the rooms are lovely. It doesn't have as much of a party atmosphere as Talybont, and is a good distance between both the SU and Heath Park Campus.
