Any English applicants: I emailed the department today and they said they're trying to get decisions out 'by the end of this week or early next.' Not long now!

Crikey, thanks for letting us know.

Not sure if this helps, but last year the LABS and medieval history Master offers were sent out on the same day (1st April). I'm on the MSt LABS course right now and I've heard rumours that this year the faculty is trying to send out the offers earlier, so I think the results should come out soon!

Thank you, that's most informative! I hope you also feel a bit guilty for disrupting my work flow completely for the rest of the week (I applied for Medieval Studies ). So are you enjoying the postgrad life at Oxford?

May I know which college you are in?

It's a lot of work but I'm definitely enjoying it! I'm a bit stressed too though - I'm waiting to hear back about funding and offers for various PhD places in History, so I'm not getting much work done either :P

St Hugh's, though college doesn't really matter for a Master's degree. I'm taught entirely outside of college for example and only go into college for the social stuff.
Hi guys, I just called the History Dept.
They told me results will be out in a couple of weeks :frown:

I hope it will be earlier... :s-smilie:

Hero. All results or of any subdivision in particular?

Just wondering - for those who have received news of acceptance, have you heard back from the colleges?

I heard for graduate students, colleges are not as important but exactly how much importance are you all placing on college placement?

Good luck with all of you still waiting for the results!

I have a similar question. I just got the email I've been dreaming of and I'm literally unbelievably excited but, as an international student, I'm not exactly sure how the whole college process works. I didn't specify a specific college I wanted to be considered for and I know that makes mine an open application. However, I'm not exactly sure what that means. Will I just be assigned randomly to a college? When should I expect to know more about my college placement? The website says 8-10 weeks, is that how long it tends to take or are they sometimes quicker?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just so elated right now.

I can't see the problem with emailing them... Although I was thinking: I asked a member of the History Department if he wanted to supervise me should I get in, and we even met to discuss my research proposal. Don't know whether I should email him or not asking if he knows what the outcome of my application is. Any ideas? He's a big shot in the department so I'm a bit scared to start off in the wrong way!

Same situation for me, but my supervisor is on a sabbatical year.

I received an unfunded offer for DPhil earth science, but was told I was "the reserve candidate" for the Clarendon scholarship and they'd let me know by the end of the month if they could offer the Clarendon to the reserve applicant and will hold my application until then (rather than sending it on to the college).

Does anyone know the likelihood of this actually happening? Or know anything about this process?

I'm guessing that you'll hear within 2 months from the day you received your offer: don't worry though, an offer from uni guarantees a place in a college; I guess your application will be evaluated by colleges and one of them will offer you a place. As someone else said colleges are not that important for postgrads, I guess it's just a place where to live/eat and hang in the MCR. People at Oxford correct me if I'm wrong!

Yes that's what I am most curious about. That college really doesn't matter for graduate students? For grads, it's more about the merit of the programme itself. I would love to hear back from those at Oxford on this - thanks!
I hope to receive a full scholarship

I have been sitting in the library the whole day with my dissertation staring at me. I have typed two words in the word.doc and 6 posts on this thread. Guess this is going to be the routine for the next two weeks hehe
