How do I cope with being alone forever/resorting to internet dating?

This will sound so melodramatic but I'm feeling so down at the moment about this situation. Ive just come to uni and I'm friends with this guy that I really quite like but he didnt answer my text this morning and I just dont think it will happen and it's made me feel like I won't ever find someone I like that likes me.

I feel so sad because it's not like I'm a social pariah, I go to parties and chat and socialise and I just dont know what to do to make myself more attractive to the guys that I really like..

I've never really had a boyfriend, just some random club encounters and a fwb situation before. I have this horrible feeling that this will just never happe for me, how can I come to terms with this?
