Just want to work out if i get mid 2:2 in an essay worth 30% of a module, what would i need to get in a 60% exam to average a 2:1 for the module. i already have a 10% with 2:1 mark so just trying to work out weighting.
I hope thats explained okay. please help me stop panicking :frown:
It depends on the exact percentages you get in this 30% essay and in the earlier 10% essay

so i do three modules, and in each one i have a 10%. in the 10% in one module i got 62, in another i got 67 and another i got 66.

if i get a mid 2:2 in the 30% essays (one for each module), can i get a 2:1 overall with 2:1 in the exam? just working with rough estimates here more or less i know but just on average?

If by "mid 2:2" you mean 55% then:
Assuming each module is worth 10 credits (not that it matters):
Module 1:

55% in 3 credit essay = 1.65 credits

62% in 1 credit essay = 0.62 credits

62.2% in 6 credit exam = 3.73 credits

Module 2:

55% in 3 credit essay = 1.65 credits

67% in 1 credit essay = 0.67 credits

61.3% in 6 credit exam = 3.68 credits

Module 3:

55% in 3 credit essay = 1.65 credits

66% in 1 credit essay = 0.66 credits

61.5% in 6 credit exam = 3.69 credits

they're worth 20 credits but yeah it's still the same idea. thanks so much for this!
so does that basically mean if i get low ish 2:1 percentages in my exams i'll get 2:1 overall in module?

so are those the percentages i would have to get to get 2:1's overall in the modules?
