Why would a guy ask a girl if her parents know they talk/went on a date?

So, a guy asked me a few times on our evening out whether my parents know and whether I will tell them... opinions? :confused:

Maybe he just wanted to see your reactions about the idea of your parents knowing you're together and whether he'll get to the stage of meeting them too.
My ex asked me this before, I didn't think too much about it tbh.

What above said probably. Or maybe just curious - most people don't tell for quite a while so far as im aware. Or maybe he wanted to know what they thought of him?
