Why do you avoid replying to some of the messages on facebook ?

What are some of the reasons for never responding to the messages ?

If the person says something that I really just dont know how to respond to

or

if someone who you know likes you is trying to flirt with you and you're too awkward to reject them outright but don't want to lead them on :/

I'm not that popular for the second option to apply to me #foreveralone

But OP yes, if I don't know how to respond or if the conversation isn't really going anywhere

- I don't care about the topic
- The other person killed the conversation
- If I see the message on my phone first I don't open it for a couple of hours so when I do I pretend that I've only just seen the message, the topic isn't important/relevant anymore so I don't reply
