Homeless person rejected food

I bought a homeless guy some fries from McDonald's but he rejected them because he said he'd just had a pizza, do you think he wasn't actually homeless ? I also bought fries for another homeless guy but when I got there he was doing drugs so I decided against it. It was a waste of 2 pound 78 because I didn't want them and my friend threw them in the bin in anger and said I was an idiot for trying

My friend once did the same thing and the 'homeless' man somehow managed to pickpocket his phone at the same time. Sometimes it's best to not bother.

A lot of well meaning people will buy a homeless person a sandwich and a bottle or coke. Depending on where they are and on people's generosity this can quickly mean that they are no longer hungry. Personally I'd rather give them money to buy things they need. If they spend it on booze or drugs that is their choice.
