I have heard so many tales about this, I have a mate who ALWAYS sleeps in her bra, she says if you don't they will go "saggy" and tells me that is why mine hang down a bit  , I tell her it is because of thier size(DD) but I am not really sure if she has a point, was just sticking up for myself!

I always thought it was that they'd go saggy because you DO wear one at night. because your boobs become reliant on the support and then its more difficult as you get older. who knows?

I asked my GP if this was true and he said 'no'. So there

Uh oh, I wear a bra to sleep a lot. It doesn't bother me, unless it's a sports-bra, which can be incredibly tight around the front and back (good for running support, bad for long-term use).

I guess I'll stop doing that...

I only wear them if i'm drunk and can't take it off, am staying at someone's house (as in, don't have jamas) or fall asleep when I don't intend to.

I don't think it does much harm, but I dont like the thought of them being all couped up! Whilst lying down where it wont hurt to let them free (unlike if you're walking around all day where it can very easily hurt).

Lol, it's sad to say but many GPs just won't know about that kinda thing, ie. the things that they don't have to deal with, so are left to make judgements like the rest of us. I really can't imagine a GP knowing about what effect bras have on breasts during sleep, but I could be wrong. Hell, my bf went to the GP for chlamydia and the doc had to search for it on the internet coz he didn't know what it was! Maybe if you had said breast specialist I would have believed you...more likely I would have thought you were refferring to your bf, but I many have believed you!
Wearing a Bra at night causes cancer? I've heard it all now. I'm not going to stop wearing one. There's probably more chance of getting cancer from wearing sunglasses for too many hours in a day!

Hang on a sec, surely a GP would be able to apply their knowledge to this? For example wouldn't they know about pressure against the lymph vesells, etc? And a doctor who hasn't heard of chlamydia?!? hmmmmm

I wear a bra at night but not an underwired bra. I hate underwired bras they dig in and it hrs me after a while. I actually feel more comfortable wearing a bra at night. I just feels so strange not wearing a bra. And it hurts when i dont wear one. I dont want to end up having saggy breasts aswell!

the GP probably did know what chylmadia is but the thing is is that GPs are overwhelmed with knowledge. Its hard to expect them to know every single thing right off the top of their head even though their expected to.
I wear a bra to bed, my boobs feel really horrible if I don't. I don't know if they keep them from going icky and saggy but mine really need the support so I just always do...
Hm.
No ive been doing it for years and i find my boobies resist gravity more than they would had i not worn a bra consistently for years :p: maybe its just an old wives tale but i think it does help...x

i find it more comfortable to wear somekind of support whilst in bed but not a full bra, definitely no underwires. Kind of like the 'crop tops' you have when youre about 11! I don't really think it matters for smaller boobs but for larger ones its probably a good idea to have some kind of support going on, even if its just to keep them out of the way!

I always wear a bra under my t-shirt for bed, otherwise it feels strange.
I never usually wear a Bra to bed, but last night I feel asleep fully clothed (not because I was drunk, I hasten to add, but rather because I was trying to study... I wish I had been drunk - might have proved a more enjoyable - and in some ways productive - evening!!!).

To be honest though, whatever's comfortable for you - I should just keep on doing it. There are so many things that "give" you Cancer nowadays that you may as well just keep doing what makes you happy.
Wearing a bra to bed doesn't give you cancer. And if it did every woman just about would have breast cancer. Because there's little difference in wearing a bra during the day and in your sleep. Personally I don't wear a bra to bed...unless I happen to stumble into bed.
