Haha I love my home friends but they're all busy missing uni too.

Merry Christmasssss to you tooo, really should sleep :p:
Yes, I absolutely adore my home friends, but I love people at Corpus too! Plus being at home is frankly a pain in the arse- too many distractions, too many parents, lol.
Ahhh I've been pooled. I really liked Corpus but at least I wasn't outright rejected.

Well I wish you good luck in the pool. It really is horrible at the time I know (I was in it), but for better or worse you will hear soon enough. At least you know it means that they thought you were Cambridge stuff.

Just don't be too worried if you get accepted by another college that you would always prefer to have been at corpus, because whatever college people end up at, they love it.

Good Luck
Yeah, I'm actually happy to have been at least pooled. Thanks for the message
Hullo all~
Sorry to say I didn't orignially pick Corpus, I was pooled from Emmanuell, but looking into it, it deffinatly looks very nice :3
Can anyone tell me if the small size gets a bit claustrophobic in terms of everyone knowing everyone, or does that just encourage more inter-college socialising?
Also, in terms of a music scene (popular), what's it like?
Finally, what's the bar like?
Tah much and hopefully see you all soon!

I originally picked St John's and got pooled to Corpus! Still not heard the end of that....Don't worry about it, everyone I know there loves Corpus

It has its up and down sides. You certainly get to know everybody very well, and it does encourage getting to know people in other years and other subjects. As for inter-collegiate I do like to make a break for freedom sometimes and get to meet other people, but overall you will enjoy how small Corpus is (I certainly am and I applied for 2nd biggest).

Though rumours/weird fact does seem to travel at an alarming rate!

There's a scene?! You probably need to go outside of college to be honest. Can't really answer this question fairly as music not an interest of mine!

Cheap enough! Though I don't like the card system whereby we pay everything back at teh end of the term, as you mass up some nice bar bills.

I am now going to tempt fate by saying that by the time you get here there will be a new bar as they are building a new court. (But they promised that for when we arrived, and the year before - and the work is still ongoing!) SOunds like it is going to be a cool bar, and most importantly for me, a free pool table!

Hopefully see you next year. Congrats on getting pooled to Corpus!

I've also just got an offer from corpus; () and was wondering what the accommodation is like. I've been told by a student there that in the whole of Old Court there is no running water; I presume they were just winding me up?
Galatea: No running water? Well, at least it's very pretty~
(as you have the option for 'en suite', I kinda assume that's a joke)
Reply 391
Most of the rooms in old court don't have sinks, it's not a joke am afraid, though they're very pretty.

Corpus, as Andy said tis lovely. The small size if something that I really like as you get to know people really well and there's lots of mingling between years. However gossip, rumours, randomness travels verrrryyy quickly and people tend to know everything about you, so it can be nice to escape to see friends at other colls. But on the other hand it's good as there's usually someone to talk to.

I have an ensuite and I can assure you that it is not an old court room!

The ensuites are in the Beldam Building which is behind the Eagle Pub.

Some Old Court rooms do have sinks I am led to believe, but you certainly have to go into Stable/Hostel Yard for showers and toilets.

Corpus rooms certainly do vary wildly though, so it is difficult to say! You get to choose what price band you would like and modern/old or smoking/non-smoking - but for first year you won't get to choose your room specifically. They are all nice though, with their own quirks!

On that front, is there much to gossip and rumor about? Just in that, is there lots of dating and whatnot within the college? I mean... I couldn't imagine there's too much scandalous activity in cambridge...
