--QUESTION TO CORPUS STUDENTS--

First of all, sorry if any of these questions seem weird / strange - You hear a lot of banter about Cambridge Colleges.

1. Is it true Corpus students are particularly religious compared to other colleges?
2. Is there in your opinion a bias towards state school or public school students?
3. Do you consider it any harder to get into Corpus compared to say the more 'popular' choices? (Please don't regurgitate the standard 'its all equal' official statement I would like some personal opinion, clearing its not equal human error is a fact of life)
Anyone? This was posted ages ago... ^^^^^^^^^^

Hi
I have literally been here for four days, so I can only shed a little light.
1. It's hard to compare to other colleges as I haven't been to any other colleges, but there does seem to be quite a few christians around from what I have seen. Chapel evensong on sunday was pretty packed (but chapel is very small!). but it really is up to you. no one makes you go, if you want to go you can, if you don't that's fine too. the chaplain/dean guy is quite funny, and hosts late night parties which are good fun and have no connection to chapel, other than they are run by the guy. but no one is in your face religious kind of thing.

2. it's hard to know because no one really knows exactly how the admissions tutors select. don't be put off wherever you are from. most of the people i have met, I don't have a clue whether they went to state or private. A couple I have spoken to went to state, as did I, but it really is not a topic of discussion.

3. again we really have no idea. I was pooled here. you can't read too much into it all. All colleges are equal in terms of what they do - some are just bigger/smaller/older/newer/different locations. if you like corpus, apply, and if you are good enough you will get in here or fished from pool. simples.
To any current or past student at Corpus Christi,

1) What made you decide to study there?
2)What grades at GCSE and A level did you get
3) What subject are you currently studying?
4) What would your advice be to prospective students currently in sixth form?

All replies to this will be greatly appreciated!!

Hey guys, I'm considering to apply for Engineering at this college.. Can anyone in this college advise me (those who've done Engineering/doing it) if anyone who's already been through this experience tell me a bit about how they remember the interviews, what the college was like for the subject, and the feeling in the college in general please?

Thanks, much appreciated
Hi! Anyone want to rekindle this thread for the 2013 cycle?

Wahoo! I guarantee you will come to prefer Corpus over Selwyn- it's such a beautiful place. The one downside I can imagine is that it's pretty small (I think the smallest in undergrad student terms?) but I kind of like that because I'm rubbish at socialising with large groups of people xD Did you go for a re-interview at Corpus?
Haha I'm the same - I much prefer small colleges, I can't socialise well either with many people. I chose Selwyn at random really, but I remember going round Corpus and really liking its smallness, and its central location in particular.

No re-interview - they gave me a direct offer. A*AA with an A* in history.

I have exactly the same offer! I think it must be a standard sort of thing. The centralness is a great thing, because it's not too far from the History faculty but also close enough to the centre of Cambridge to be stumble-back-able after a night of probably inadvisable partying (because if you can't be irresponsible at university, when can you be? :P ). That being said, I get the feeling I'll be coming back in the middle of the night from the library, more often than from the bar. #nerdproblems :P

oh no, i'm an international so we don't have the A* grade, besides, i don't think i was impressive at all. my interview when horridly so i'm really surprised i got in at all!! haha but that seems to be how everyone felt. it is nice to be affirmed though, that there is something in you that they saw..whatever that may be : )

Just a question from a postgrad - is CC a more art/social science-oriented college or are there many life scientists as well?

I can tell you there's plenty of NatScis, mathmos, medics and engineers as well as arts, although this is at undergrad level. Don't know at post grad level.

Is it because all the postgrads stay in Leckhampton and they don't come around to the main college site much?

yes there is not much mixing with under grads and post grads.
Is there anyone here who has an offer for Philosophy at Corpus Christi for 2013?
