Choosing a degree (vetmed vs. biology)

Hi everybody !
I'm applying to uni (entry 2016) in the UK, and I'm an EU student. The problem is I don't know how to choose between studying veterinary medicine and biological sciences. I have work experience in both fields.
I think I might want to work in research afterwards. Would it be useless to have a veterinary degree to do so ?
Also, I really would like to travel as a grown-up, which degree led be the most suitable to do so ?

Thank you !!
Hope someone can help...

If you want to go into research biological science would be better suited for preparing you for this.
Vet med is designed to prepare vet students for actual practice as a vet and so is a very different degree with a clinical rather than a lab emphasis and a lot of time spent in vet clinic placements.
Combined with how ridiculously competitive vet med is (only 8 vet schools in the UK, sometimes 20:1 applications to places), and that the course is longer (5 years vs 3), I would say if you don't actually want to be a vet then it would be a bit pointless to do it.
