Oxford Brookes Insurance choice accomodation

Hi, my names Emily and I've put Oxford Brookes as my insurance, but missed my firm offer (BTEC) by a few points so will be coming here instead. I'd consider myself a social person and I love meeting new people, which is why I had my heart set on halls, as the social aspect of meeting a load of new people sounded really great to me. Anyway, I've been looking at past threads and it looks like it's not that common for insurance choice candidates to get accommodation especially if you live less than 2 hours away, which sucks because I'm from London. I thought that instead of getting really worked up about it and thinking that it's the end of the world (it's not, but it feels like that sometimes) I would try and find some other freshers in a similar boat to me early on, so once accommodation starts getting released for insurance students on the 23rd I'll have a back up in case I don't get offered a room.I've found some really great places in lively student areas all within walking distance to the headington campus and they're super CHEAP, ( well compared to Brookes halls) only about £70-125ppw. Each house usually has about 4-10 rooms so it's basically the same as a hall flat, but we get a living room as well (imagine the house party capabilities!) and maybe even a garden, plus they're usually all double rooms! It would be great to find some other social people who will want to go out during freshers week, so we can all go together. Like I said before, I'm an outgoing girl and I enjoy the occasional party, but I'm also down for some chill movie nights and late night study seshes as well, and living in a big family with a twin sister my whole life I think I get on well with shared spaces. I want to share with other people who will hopefully end up being good friends, and will make my first year special. So if you think you might be in the same boat, and want to see some of the houses I've found leave me a message and I'll send you some pics. It would be great to meet up once we've found out if we have or haven't got accommodation, and go on a house hunt together! Leave me a message!

Xx

Hi Emily,
Im in the same position too, very worried about not getting halls or a choice that I really don't like. I too am a very girly girl and like to go out and be sociable. Do you have any more details on the houses? And have you had many people message you interested in the same type of thing?

Look forward to hearing from you

Same situation for me as well except I got in through clearing so I am very worried there will be no room left in halls. I'd be interested in shared accommodation if it came to it because I want to be able to go out for freshers and meet people but I know I wouldn't be able to face going out on my own if I hadn't met anyone first.

Let me know!

Hey guys!

Sorry I've taken a while to reply, I've been super busy getting crazy excited about uni! There is currently a group chat on facebook between me and some other fun people in the same situation, so add me https://www.facebook.com/heylookatyouallsexystalkingmywall ( sorry about my weird arse url, I made it when I was 13 haha). Anyway, we've decided to wait to sign any contracts until the next halls allocation is released in a few days, as the accommodation bureau has told us while its not guaranteed, they think its very likely they'll be able to house everyone. If something happens and we don't get halls we've found plenty of places with around 4-8 bedrooms in the Cowley road or Headington area in the 85-125 per week price range and we've already made contacts. So yah message meh!
