Moving to the USA after graduation

Hey guys,

So I have found out my mother's application for a US green card (about 20 years ago) has been approved and I will be getting also be getting permanent residence as of next year as her dependent.

Although i am aware about the USMLE amongst other things, has anyone had any experience getting a residency position in the US with a medical degree from UK (I'm a 3rd year undergrad at liverpool uni)?. I am not sure which area I want to specialise in, but I have considered ophthalmology which i know is extremely competitive.

Would having the green card make it easier to obtain residency? How would I go about getting residency in the US after completing F1 in England?
