I got around 38/40 for the controlled assessment. That's worth 20%. What would I need in the exams to get an a or a*?

I'm also doing wjec and ums works like this

Paper One (of mice and men, unseen poetry etc) is out of 70 marks
Paper two (inspector calls, heroes etc) out of 80 marks
Controlled assessment is out of 50 marks

So you need 180/200 in total from all those papers to get an A*
38/40 would probably be around 48 ums marks, so you need 132 UMS marks on the exam papers for an A*.

For an A you need 160/200UMS

Sorry it's quite a confusing system, but really you just need high A grades for an A* on your exams because you did well in your controlled assessment
