Your school checks the papers for things like this before sending them off. You'll then be dragged into the office to complete it.

They discard it

I'd recommend speaking to your exam's officer just to make sure though.

Just go to your exam office and then they will ask you to sign the papers. They can't fail you just because you didn't sign something. Next time you do an exam, sign the paper. It's the invigilators fault that they didn't check that you'd signed it, so don't worry.
