Hey! Heard from a friend that accomodation is limited at Warwick and 2nd year students onwards need to live rather far away. 30mins. - 60mins bus ride journey away. Is that true?

As far as I understand it, lots of Warwick students *choose* to live in Leamington in 2nd/3rd year as they consider it the nicest option for students. And if you have a 9am lecture, this can mean leaving the house up to an hour beforehand to get the bus due to traffic etc at that time. If you start later the journey is better.

Although Leamington does look nice, I would definitely not want this journey everyday.

So, a while back I asked on here if there were other options, and some replies said some students choose to live in Canley and Earlsdon, which are a much shorter bus ride to campus (or cycle, which is not possible from Leamington) I think this is the option I'd choose.

Edit: Campus halls of residence are for first years only, except for those with exceptional circumstances.

No worries. Just to be clear, I'm not a student there, but I really loved the campus on open day so put it down as one of my UCAS choices. I then researched the accommodation stuff and that's what I found out.

Would very much welcome any actual Warwick student replying to confirm if I've got it right, it's kinda the biggest remaining issue for me. I did email admissions about it but they didn't reply.

Hi @truediver

As others have mentioned, many of our 2nd year students onwards do live in Leamington, and this can take anywhere between 20 mins to 60 mins (this is in rush hour). However, there are also options nearer to the campus in Coventry and Kenilworth, so it really depends on what matters to you when picking your accommodation

If you go to this page on the Warwick Accommodation site, you can see a bit more information on the local area and the walking, bus, and cycling times for each of the options: https://warwick.ac.uk/services/accommodation/studentaccommodation/waoffcampus/

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions!

Thank you for the re-assurance!
Hi, I am an actual student who goes to Warwick. I have lived (and still do) in Leamington and was on campus in my first year. Ask any QS!

Thank you for taking time to help.

If we are unable to get an ensuite at campus - undergrads- will it be too late to apply for The Oaks? Any opinion about The Oaks? Is it near to d Engineering halls?

I personally do not like Coventry, but there are outer areas like Earlsdon and Canley in walking distance from Campus. Campus is great and so is Leamington and Kenilworth!

I have never heard of the oaks - but if its outside of campus you will just be taking a bus/bike into camps. Engineering is on central campus - 5 min walk from the bus station.

Hi, what is it you don't like about Coventry? Do you ever go there for socialising or entertainment, or shopping etc, or do you just stick to campus and Leamington? Thanks

I have been to Cov for socialising, shopping etc. But I do not want to live there as the majority of students are in Leam, it's nicer and it's a really nice community. I also don't like Cov cause a friend of mine was robbed/broken into.

many thanks for the reply, very helpful
I have a booking right now at the oaks but I am looking for a replacement since I decided to stay at home. Do let me know if you or someone else wants to live there!
