Could to an extent be alphabetical - in our flat in Lafrowda virtually all the surnames seemed to be M-T.
We also noticed that year that we all came from similar socio-economic backgrounds.

Aye! Thats a point - in my flat 3 of us came from Wiltshire, and the other two were doing the same course and had the same birthday xD

I agree with the socio-economic backgrounds. We had a couple of internationals in our flat (Jersey and Austria) but the rest were either from London or the West-country, and one was from Birmingham.
Also all of them were doing science and one maths apart from 2 - me doing English/Phil and one guy doing Drama. We all rubbed along really well though.
Surnames ranging from C to W...so I disagree on the alphabet theory hehe
