MacBook for University

If you go to either Aberystwyth University or Cardiff University, can you please let me know if it is useful to have a MacBook. I understand that some universities don’t work with Apple MacBooks.
If not, what other brand do you recommend?

I can't understand why people are spending over £1000 on a laptop that's only gonna be used for Web browsing, Microsoft Office and Netflix.

I’m doing Business Management and the MacBook is one of the only laptops that can accommodate the software I need to use. They are also pretty robust so I’ve heard.

What software are you using that's Apple exclusive? Also, plenty of lower priced laptops are robust. You have gaming laptops that pushed to the limit and can last years.

I used to have a gaming laptop and I absolutely hated it.
I don’t mean to sound like I’m bragging but money is no object. I just want an idea of which model is better and if particular University’s liaise with the software.
