US Presidents - Tournament of Significance - Hub thread

:hat::viking:Welcome to the history forum! :viking: :hat:

TSR is hosting a tournament to decide which US President is the most significant throughout History.

Over the coming weeks, the Support Team are running a series of polls to establish which US President do YOU think, is the most significant in the History of such a young but important nation.

We have now moved to the Semi Finals :woo: The semi finals will close on Friday 18th February at 12 noon. So vote quickly!!! The top two Presidents from each SF will move through to the final.
Semi-Final 1: Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Ulysses Grant, Donald Trump
Semi-Final 2: Theodore Roosevelt, Andrew Jackson, Richard Nixon, George Washington
Semi-Final 3: George W Bush, Lyndon Johnson, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln
Semi-Final 4: Ronald Reagan, James Garfield, Barack Obama, Benjamin Harrison

We'd really love it if you took part by voting in the above polls, thank you so much for being brilliant sports with this competition. :rave:

One the group stages are completed, the top two from each group will move through to Round 2, along with 4 remaining presidents who acquired the most votes. They will be allocated randomly into 6 heats, with 5 presidents in each.

The top 3 presidents from each heat will progress to the Semi Finals, in addition to one spot available for the unsuccessful president with the most votes.

The semi finals will contain 4 heats of 4 presidents, and the single winner of each heat will progress to the grand final. The final shall conclude on Presidents' Day in the USA.

How do I participate?
Simply vote in any of the polls linked above, post in the threads with your viewpoint too if you wish.

What do you want to see from the History forum?
We're aware that this is an all-male and almost all-white topic. Tell us what you want to see from the History forum so that when the Support Team runs more projects like this, we can involve even more people.

*For even numbers we had to eliminate William Henry Harrison, who held the shortest term of a President. Sorry to all his fans out there.

It could be nice to do this sort of thing for Black History Month - it would allow people to learn about and vote on influential/inspirational black people through the ages, e.g. Katherine Johnson, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Rosa Parks, etc.

I'm sure there are other events/months in the year where this would work too. Maybe Pride month in June as well?
:woo: We're now into Round 2 :woo:

Round Two heats are in the above quote ^

However, voting has now come to an end on Round 2 and we're now looking at the semi finals. Semi finals should be public in the next couple of days. Will quote you in when they are up.
