Southgate announces his squad tomorrow. He has made great decisions in 2018 and 2021 when people told him to make certain decisions such as dropping Pickford, starting Grealish, not playing 5 at the back etc and he has been proven right in those decisions so far.
My guess would be something like:
Goalkeepers
Pickford, Ramsdale, Pope
Defenders
Trippier, TAA, Walker (injured but why not), Shaw, Maguire, Dier, Coady, Stones, White
Midfielders
Rice, Bellingham, Henderson, JWP, Mount, Madisson
Attackers
Kane, Foden, Grealish, Sterling, Rashford, Wilson, Saka, Abraham
White will probably go because he can play different positions even though Tomori is probably better than him. Phillips hasn't played at all this season so he won't go and Southgate loves Ward-Prowse. Toney won't go because of the betting allegations leaving Wilson and Abraham.
If we're being honest though, the available players are pretty **** compared to the other top nations. Our only world-class player is Kane. The centre backs are terrible. I don't think he'd take another specialist left back because Trippier can play there and the other options aren't that good. Southgate will play Shaw regardless and then Tripper at right wing back because he doesn't want to start TAA.
