Hi there! I know right the wait can really be agonizing XD however, you have nothing to worry about! QMUL Law is really really competitive, being top 10 in the UK for law, so it does sometimes take a bit of time before they get back to you. Best of luck, I really hope it goes well!

thank you so much, i guess i will have to just wait!!!

Not an offer holder, but did get rejected by QMUL and reasoning for quite unfair and unreasonable. Due to my insufficient HCSE grades, I was not able to get an offer even though currently I’m doing 4 Alevel equivalent ( Btec Level 3 Business, alevel Law and alevel Philosophy). And my predicted weren’t too bad D*D* in Btec which is A*A* equivalent and an A in law with B in philosophy. But QMUL choose to ignore these merit and decided to go with GCSE. Yes, I messed up in past but why is GCSE still such a concern especially with Law at QMUL. Why can’t the normal GCSE requirements be used? Why is the GCSE requirement soo high and why do they have to put soo much emphasis on it? I understand it’s a highly competitive university but using GCSE to reject someone is frankly very dismeaning and disrespectful. And I personally find this whole charade ridiculous.
Where the offer holder gc at?

Hey there,
Condolences. I for one have been rejected from a uni for sub standard IGCSE grades, before- and they weren't even bad! I had 3 A*s and 6 As XD so I definitely know how you feel. Please do recognise that GCSE grades are only resorted to in cases where competition is really really tight, as is often the case with QMUL Law because of its reputation, being top 10 in the UK. This doesnt mean you're a poor candidate in any way shape or form, but rather that competition for places was very tight.
Hope is not lost however- you may still be able to get a spot in clearing IF some spaces open up due to people turning down their offers, choosing to defer for a year, or getting into their firm. Do please let me know if I can be of any further help!

Hi, I have received an offer from QMUL and am trying to decide whether I would take this as an firm offer. I am an international student. I would like to know how many law students are there per year? I also would like to know more about the student career support provided as I heard that it is quite hard to become trainees in law firms in the UK. I haven't been able to attend any offer holder days or visits so I would like to know about student life too! Thanks!

Hey there- Congratulations on your offer! QMUL is a top 10 law school in the UK so you should be very proud indeed. As you can imagine, due to this the law faculty is definitely one of the biggest ones in the university- I think on average, over 250 people are admitted every year from over a 1000 applicants, but in total the law faculty has well over 2,000 people, including undergraduates, postgraduates and people on other law mixed courses.
Student career support is generally good, although to put yourself in the best position to get a training contract you'll definitely also need to put in the requisite effort. One thing about QMUL in this regard is that being in London, we're close to all the major law firms so you're always around them, and can easily attend insight events and etc. QMUL is also one of the universities that law firms target to usually have ambassadors on every year, so it definitely has the reputation.
In terms of student life, I'll definitely say QMUL is up there as well. Not just because I'm an ambassador XD but because I genuinely think so. We're the only russel group uni in London that is also a campus uni, and this is really key especially in first year because most freshers live on campus and it makes it much easier to socialise. We also have a bar/club on campus, eateries, cafes, shops etc.
I really hope this has been helpful- please do feel free to let me know if I can be of any further help!

Thank you for the information! I would like to ask more about the 8 months law firm attachment program that I saw on the school's website. Is it very hard to be able to participate and are there any requirements for joining this program? I also heard that UK professors go on strikes quite a lot so is there any compensation for these lost teaching time? Thanks!

No worries at all! So you're talking about the Law In Practice Programme- its not difficult per se, but it is competitive. How it works is the Uni partners with a couple of law firms to provide opportunities for you to work at a firm during your third year, and people on the law in practice programme apply for these places. Never fear though- I do believe that even if someone is unsuccessful in their application for a place, the uni provides some other options to them afterwards, although I'm not too sure what that entails.
And yes, strikes have recently been a frequent issue in the UK unfortunately, and I think the law department is probably one of the worse affected ones. As of now, there is no compensation per se for the teaching time as this undermines the purpose of the strikes, but there is rarely ever a case where all the professors and tutors go on strike, so more often than not there are still staff which have lectures and tutorials on- so the effect is somewhat mitigated, depending of course also on who your tutor is.
Please do let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi, this is a thread for QMUL Law offer holders to congregate, get to know each other and also feel free to ask questions! I am currently a law student at QMUL, so feel free to ask me anything.

hi! so I have an offer for law at qm and I got rejected from LSE because I didn't do great in the LNAT. I'm not sure if I should go qm or take a gap year and redo the lnat. what kind of reputation does law have at qm and would there be an option to defer my place for a year if I'm still unsure

Hi I would like to ask which accomodations are better? Also, I can't really see the difference between an en-suite economy room and an en-suite standard room. It seems to me that standard rooms look older while economy ones look newer but the fee for standard ones are higher? Thanks!!

Hey there! Sorry to hear about the rejection- it happens to the best of us. To aid you in your decision, I can tell you for a fact that Law is one of the two courses that QM is best known for, the other being medicine. It is consistently top 10 in the UK, and we have some very very distinguished staff in our law faculty. For these reasons, amongst unis in London as well as employers, QM does have a very very good reputation for law. Please do let me know if I can be of any further help!

Hi there! In answering your question, it would honestly depend on which ones specifically you're talking about. Some of the accommodations have been recently renovated, so do look a bit newer, but the standard ones tend to be more expensive I think because most of them are on campus, if Im not mistaken. If you were to ask me which is better, it would depend on what youre looking for- there are advantages to both. Perhaps I'm biased, but I must say I actually thoroughly enjoyed living in one of the QM accoms just right outside campus- that being said, there are benefits to living on campus as well, like I remember a day where it was snowing earlier this year, and there was a huge snowball fight on campus between all the people there, and it seemed really fun. In conclusion, depends on you really! Please let me know if I can be of any further help.
But are QMUL Law students going to Magic Circle?

But are QMUL Law students going to Magic Circle?

Absolutely. Now don't get me wrong- law is competitive, and securing a place in the top law firms also depends heavily on other factors such as your grades, the amount of work you've put in, becoming familiar with the firms etc- but being a QMUL law student in no way harms your chances. A cool exercise you might be able to do to allay your fears is go to linkedin and check out people that work at the top law firms- you're bound to find QMUL alumni among them. Please do let me know however I may be of further help!

Hii I have firmed QM for LLB and it requires A*AA but I'm most likely not meet the requirements since I fell really sick during my A levels. DO you think they will still consider me? Do they accept lower grades on results day in August?

Hey there! First of all congratulations on your offer!
So this depends on a couple of things. I should start by saying that yes it absolutely happens that people miss their offer and still get a place- it usually depends on a couple of factors like how much competition there is for places and what subject made them miss their offer (a place is still very likely to be offered if you for example got a B in like, idk chemistry which has nothing to do with law). Another huge factor is by how much the offer is missed. If for example, its not an A*AA but its like an A*A*B then the uni is more likely to still give a place.
In your case, I'll say you definitely have a chance at still being considered especially because you fell ill! It would be worth contacting the admissions office and telling them ahead of time that there were extenuating circumstances around your results- you could of course also tell them this on results day, but that will be a very busy day and its worth letting them know ahead of time. That will definitely help your case.
Please do let me know if I can be of any further help!

Hey there! I am just now realising that I completely missed this somehow- I really apologise. But yes, QMUL does clearing for law. How many spots open up depends, and it may be tight- so I'd recommend getting on the phone as quickly as possible on the day if need be- but its there! One of my good friends at the uni got onto law in clearing. Please do let me know if I can be of any further help!
Hi everyone, I had an offer from QMUL Law and missed it because of my IB grades (M23 ). They haven't rejected me yet, but I wanted to ask- could I still reapply through clearing?

Hey there! Bad luck about the grades- I'm sure you did your best. The good news is the university might actually still take you depending on how things pan out with other people as well as competition for places and etc- I'm certain thats why they have not responded to you yet, because they're just buying some time to see how things shakeout, potentially until A Level results day. But yes absolutely, even if you don't get the response you want now or then, you can reapply through clearing and you never know, some places may have opened up! Please do let me know if I can be of any further help!
