Hey guys, I'm doing Edexcel English GCSE and im so stressed omg just how are you guys revising for everything and also how much revision are you doing a day! I can't believe their in a month :/

hey i'm super stressed about english too, i'm currently doing about 1hr for english lit and 1hr for english lang everyday because it's the easter holidays but when we go back to school i'll probably do just 1hr for either one everyday and alternate them. english is my worst subject so it's the one i revise most, don't know what it's like for u in comparison to ur other subjects but if like me u struggle with it definitely spend more time on it.

for english language i mostly watch youtube videos on how to answer each of the questions and follow the assessment objectives/mark schemes, then do lots of past papers/questions. idk what it's like for edexcel as i do aqa, but if it's similar the aqa timings are super tight so definitely recommend doing these in the time u have in the exam.

for english lit, to revise content i mostly use the cgp text guides, seneca and sometimes physics and maths tutor, and then i've made flashcards on things like themes, characters, quotes, plot summary etc. however given it's only a month now u probably don't have time to make loads of flashcards, so to revise the content ur probably just better off using something like youtube videos or seneca (or maybe just reading thru the cgp guides if u have them and making very brief notes/mindmaps etc at most) as they'll help u get thru the content faster. also again i reccommend u do lots of past questions.

i've attached below some of the resources i use but for ur exam board if it helps:

pmt revision resources:

how to write a top mark essay (literature):

english lang specification (this has everything like the assessment objectives etc on it):

english lang past papers:

english lit past papers:
https://www.physicsandmathstutor.com/past-papers/gcse-english-literature/

my absolute favourite resouce is Mr Salles on youtube, his videos are so good and have been really helpful for me. however i don't think he does any videos for edexcel language sorry, but i don't think the literature ones are exam board specific as we all do the same texts and the assessment objective are almost identical so they could be helpful?

i hope some of that helps, sorry if it doesn't as again i do aqa so it might be different, but doing past papers and understanding how to answer each question according to the mark scheme/assessment objectives will defintely help. best of luck i'm sure it will all turn out fine for u in the end

As a person who had taken GCSE Edexcel English Language and Literature last year, I also had trouble with it by scoring 4 or 5's in my mock. Although it might be too late, but reading a book or reading articles can strengthen your story or your article writing, as you can steal and use techniques that they have used. (i.e. it can expand your ideas). For English Literature, you probably should read your chosen book, not only once, but many times. However, I am unable to give advice on poetry as I have not studied poetry for last year GCSE exam.

For my real GCSE exam, I was able to achieve grade 7.
