Placement unrelated to career

Hi,

I'm about to finish my second year of an accounting/economics degree and I don't have a placement sorted. I was hoping to get one finance related as I want to go into accounting after university. At the moment, there are some placements advertised that are in unrelated sectors (global operations etc) and aren't directly related to accounting. I was wondering if I should go for these, as I thought it would be good to get at least some experience. Also it would give me another change of getting summer internships next year (which I didn't get this year). I'm just worried that it could be a waste of time.

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

Yes - go for any decent placement you can. Work experience helps a lot when you apply for jobs - it doesn’t have to be in the exact field to be valuable.
