How to contact foreign school for research placement?

Hello,

I'm researching language development in children and was looking into going abroad for 2+ months during my course placement window to conduct my research. I am looking at East Asian countries but there is little advice online about proper conduct when trying to contact these institutions. I have experience with placement at schools in England and am familiar with the requirements, but while my lecturers have made it clear that contacting these other schools will be different they themselves do not have experience with this and therefore there help / direction is quite limited. Emails are hard to come by and many websites for these schools are very pre 2012 so I am running into quite a few difficulties - any advice would be appreciated.
