deferred entry/gap year for medical school

hello there! i’m currently in year 12 and i’m applying for medicine. i am thinking of doing a gap year, and i’m not sure how the application process looks like. is it better to apply for deferred entry this year or just apply next year?

Given how hard it is to get into med school, I would apply next year for a deferred place. That way if it doesn’t work out you can give it a second shot in your gap year. Nothing to lose and everything to gain.
