Optometry Huddersfield

If anyone is studying optometry at Huddersfield how is it, considering it is a new optometry department. Is there patient exposure from first year ?

Hi Anon,

I've just got in touch with our Optometry team and they told me the following:
"On the current version of the course, students gain patient (public) exposure in our purpose built eye clinic in year 3 of the course and practical experience is gained throughout the course, again mainly in our eye clinic where students can practise on each other. Placements are in the 3rd year of the course."

So while there isn't first year patient exposure on this course, there are practicals throughout, in addition we have a purpose built opticians right on campus which is run in partnership with Valli opticians.
