Neonatal Nurse

I was wondering if you can become a neonatal nurse after gaining a midwifery degree or do you have to have a nursing degree? I couldn’t find anything about it online, thank you

You'll have to be a qualified nurse as per information below before you can apply for to be a neonatal nurse..... You will have to do probably additional training depending on what the individual hospital trust job application requirements are okay as each one have their own requirements.

Entry requirements and training to be a neonatal nurse

You need to be a registered adult nurse, child nurse or midwife to apply for a job as a neonatal nurse. Some employers may ask for experience or knowledge of neonatal nursing issues eg. handling bereavements or related areas, for example breast feeding.

Do you have to go to uni to be a neonatal nurse?

Many people wonder whether it's possible to work as a Neonatal Nurse without first obtaining a degree, but it isn't possible to work as a registered Nurse without studying at the degree level. However, there are alternatives to the standard university degree course.

A NHS registered midwife.
