Conditional offer before I've even sent my portfolio? (Animation)

Hi,
So I've applied for my unis and one of them have already given me a conditional offer. The terms of the offer say I need a successful interview, the UCAS points and a good portfolio to be accepted.

Is this generally the norm for universities and should I expect them to all be like this?
I had always thought you get your offers _after_ you submit your portfolio.
No this isn’t standard and is against the guidance from UCAS about what conditions should include (it’s impossible to define what an acceptable portfolio is).
What it probably means is that your portfolio isn’t likely to be looked at critically or in detail - the offer is based on you just providing it and attending an interview. This isn’t the sort of offer a selective course would make.
