Student Loans Company asking for Bank Statements?

Been contacted by SLC, telling me I need to update my details for repayment.

I need to make a Third Party Declaration that my mum is currently helping support me while I'm not working. The form tells me I need to send bank statements for the last 3 months.

Are these supposed to be original copies? Am I supposed to blur out my bank account number & sort code?

It seems unsafe to be sending my bank details in the post like this, with no idea who will get to see it.
Bank statements are sent in the post all the time - it’s how the bank sends them out to their customers in the first place.
What I meant is I don't know if the recipient (SLC) is supposed to have access to my bank account number/sort code. I haven't had to send my bank statements like this to SLC before, so I'm not sure. I'd like some kind of confirmation from a SLC representative.

When I send the bank statements to the SLC should they be original copies, and should they have any info redacted? And should I be sending them through Royal Mail tracked/Signed For service?
