My mam told me she didn't want me to go out with a Muslim because "they'll only want you because they can't look at their own women". It goes both way sometimes.
I prefer to date non-religious people anyway so no big deal.

I DO see it as racist to judge people and make assumtions based on ethnicity or religion... You having friends that are English doesn't change that fact.

Why, though?

Within Hinduism they have different castes, and it's pretty difficult to marry someone outside your caste. Even if you find someone you love and want to marry within the same caste, the Hindu religious teacher will attend the home and calculate whether the stars of the potential couple are a match, if they don't match, they can't get married.

Sikhism is the result of Muslim vs Hindu conflicts in the area of Punjab. It appealed the the poor orphans and windows brought by the horseman of war.

It's a heresy that the Imams of the Mugal Empire should have annihilated (like the many thousands killed by Hindu, Christian and Islamic theocratic states/institutions) if it wasn't bankrupt or ineffective at everything.

Sikhism, Zoroastrism, Gnosticism and Bah'ai are all heresies that the Mugal, Saffarid, Byzantines and Islamic Caliphates failed to destroy and survived the many witch hunts and burnings that heretics got back then. - it's the reason they are so pacifist and accepting, because they are born in the fear of oppression... not unlike Christianity(which become the oppressor).

I'm Indian and my cousin is getting married to an english girl this year, and I could probably marry who ever I wanted if I went about it the right way... not ALL indians are majorly OCD about it. But I can understand with my parents that its preferable due to not having a culture clash/ sharing the same views on important things, rather than religion and beliefs

You're probably quite liberal though, no? Because the status quo at the moment is that most Pakistani or Indian parents would rip their children's face off if they married a white boy/girl or Muslim/Hindu.

Hopefully this will change as time goes on and new generations get better educated.

Well my cousin married a white girl and my other cousins married a muslim so my family don't care about all that!

This is certainly not the case. I am Indian and Indians consider high caste Indians to be superior to Whites. My parents would much rather I marry an Indian man than a White man. Marrying a White man would be an embarrassment to the family.

Indian idea of superiority:

High caste Indian >> White person >> Low caste Indian

I don't know where you White people get your delusional ideas about having 'high status' among other ethnic groups. :confused:
