You can pass the A Level if you fail modules. I passed my English A level after failing two A2 units xD
Your overall UMS needs to be over 40% to pass (40% is an E, 50% is a D), but yes, you would.

Yup.

eg: My friend can fail M1 and Still get an A* in A levels Maths.

I doubt that highly.

Why? It's not like he got 100% in every unit.

As:
C1: 95/100
C2: 89/100
D1: 85/100

A2:
C3: 89/100
C4: 93/100

Total: 451/600

He would need 29/100 in M1 to get an A*

How is that possible? The 61 UMS your friend would have lost (minimum) from that exam puts your friend on 89.8%...

edit: oh, is it 80% overall and 90% C3+4?

My friend needed 1 UMS in S2 to get an A* in maths. Otherwise he would have gotten a B.
Yes. The grade is just based on the overall mark of the units.
