Hi Scotty93

Just wondering where in England did u accept a place and how did the interview go? Have u much experience in schools?

Thanks hope u don't mind me asking!

It was edge hill and my interview was good. It was very relaxed and the staff were lovely. I had almost 3 months in classroom experience if it's all added up ranging from p1-p6.

Have you applied anywhere else?

I'm waiting to hear back from Liverpool John Moores for their Primary PGCE with PE specialism to see if I've been given an interview. Also been looking at edge hill, what did the day consist of?

Maths, science and English tests
An essay similar to the coleraine one
An interview (10 questions)
An object (explain how you would teach a lesson with it)

It seems a lot but it was a very good day and the campus is excellent
Got my rejection letter, so good luck to everyone with their interviews and the waiting game!!

Got my rejection letter, absolutely gutted, I am mature student so this was my last chance, frustrates me that people have got through with no experience and don't want it, I've asked for feedback, why bang on about experience and then take people with none

It is a waiting game, for sure.

Was that a rejection letter for the story-telling session? Very sorry to hear it. :frown:

I didn't get through to any part of the interview process last year, due to lack of 'in-school' experience. However, I got a job as a classroom assistant to boost this.

I too, am a mature student. I'm going to give it one more shot next year, if it doesn't work this year.

As for those who got through to interview - especially the young lady who openly admitted to two of us that she didn't want to be a Primary School teacher, was seriously frustrating >< Then she had the neck on her to ask me a question in the maths test!

Will you give it one more go?

Good luck for the future, whatever you decide.
I might try again I don't know this has disheartened me so much, I've worked in 2 different primary schools and 2 secondary schools over the past 3 years including sen and immagrant children with little English so really confused as to what they are looking for, thats it they are taking places of those who really want it and I know I wouldnt be happy with someone who has terrible maths teaching my son but who are we to argue

I got rejected for the second time and it's made me want to try harder, I'm looking into ways to get more experience and re thinking the age group I want to work with. I'm still feeling pretty gutted about it but trying to think on the bright side of things and it'll give me a chance to expand on my skills in the meantime.

Keep trying and it'll work out in the end
Sorry to hear it was a no, was it a no to the storytelling or did you make it to interviews? I know what you mean this is my second time and it's so dis-heartening when it's a no. But you're doing the right thing getting more experience each year and going back. It took a friend of mine 5 times before she got accepted. 😊

It was FE/Post 16 I applied for and didn't make it to interviews this time (I did make it to interviews in my first attempt but didn't get a place).

I'm re thinking age groups as I've enjoyed my work at Brownies with the 7/8 year olds so thinking I'd prefer to work in primary but my degree isn't in a national curriculum subject so I'll have to do some more research and I have emailed some local primary schools about volunteering as a classroom assistant in the meantime

Have you asked them for any feedback?

Do try again though.

5 times!! Oh my. :s-smilie:

Not sure I could do it 5 times ... I'd definitely be too old then. :frown:
Hi yeah I asked for feedback but as of yet I have received no response, but if I don't get anything else then I will try again next year
Don't feel too disheartened! The post primary pgce programme's are the same. I have a 1st, experience in primary, secondary and a year in grammar plus time spent with 'sen' children and it still isn't enough! I know of people who have yet to get their degree and have no experience but I've managed to get an interview! Very confused to how the system is ran in NI!

The phase, it's not what you know it's who you know is starting to make a lot of sense!

Do keep trying and if possible try England. Although I do understand people have commits etc and that option is not always possible!

Thank you and same to you :-)
I hate this part of the process when you are constantly checking the post for the letter. All the best everyone, hopefully we will start hearing some news about letters on here soon.
