I know, same! I'm really jealous of my friends in the year above going, although I don't know anyone going to Bristol. I just wish Freshers' Week was next week xD! Nowhere else does engineering maths.. It's what I want to do, so I'm going to try and nail my personal statement!

I've seen a couple of threads for different universities such as Oxbridge and Durham and I thought I'd get the ball rolling with prospective Bristol applicants

List of applicants, quote me and I'll add you to the list

Hi, I'm a potential applicant, not 100% sure I'm applying to Bristol yet as I have yet to visit (going to the open day in September ) but it looks good!

That sounds good  How big is your year?

Do you tend to socialise with fellow CompScis, or with people you were in halls with, etc?

There's about 90 - 100 people in each year.

I was in Unite House, which is not a proper hall (and heads-up at this point, avoid it, go for a real hall) so most of my friends are CSers. We have socials put on by CSS, the society for the course and in our year we organise pub/tea meet-ups. You'll also tend to hang out with people from any societies you're involved in (in my case, PhotoSoc )

this is my first one :giggle: I'm off to Nottingham on the 9th, though!

Course: History
Other unis: Exeter and Warwick so far
Predicted grades: Not sure yet, hopefully AAA. ASs weren't fantastic this year with ABCC, but I was close to the boundaries for the B and C. Hopefully a couple of resits will help!

Ah it's alright, some of my friends haven't properly even looked at university requirements yet  - I hope Nottingham is good! (I have their prospectus, it looks really nice :colondollar:)

Haha, they do indeed! I'm just worried about the AS grades really, but I'm not going to apply to anywhere I'm not willing to go, would be a waste! I'm not entirely sure on Oxford yet, going to have a good think and word with my tutor.

Have you visited anywhere yet? I haven't (and really should start!)

AS grades aren't the be all and end all, and you have good GCSEs, with good A2 predictions, reference, Personal statement (and for Oxford) interview, you still have a really good chance!

I've visited; Oxford, Cambridge, QMUL, RHUL, Reading, Kent, Chichester, UEA, LSE and still have Exeter & Bristol to go! this was over a period of over 2 years though, and of all of those I only want to apply to Oxford, UEA and Royal Holloway. (although the others were all nice too, it's just personal preference!) I also considered York, Nottingham and Southampton but then decided against as I've been to a ridiculous number of open days this year and no member of my family is willing to take me to any more :frown: lol!
