Which fashion course do i choose?

Hi there,
I'm currently in college doing A Levels (Art, Textiles, Business and an EPQ based on fashion) and it's almost my time to apply for Uni's. It has always been my dream to become a fashion designer. I'm applying for art foundations at Central Saint Martins, Falmouth and Farnham. But my focus will be on applying for two foundation courses at London College of Fashion. I am torn between 'Fashion Design and Marketing', 'Pattern Cutting' and 'Surface Textiles Design'. I was wondering if there was anyone who could give me advice on which would be best to do to get into the fashion industry and eventually become a designer.

I'm going to the Open Day in October which should help me with more information on the courses. I want to go into RTW womenswear and will probably do a BA Honors/Masters in Fashion Design Womenswear, I would just really like some advice on which LCF foundation course to take.

Thank you so so much, any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hello! My name is Eliel and I am UCA representative and also a current student there. I have been doing photography for 2 years now.

I read that you are thinking of applying for Fashion courses and I though you would be interested in our Fashion courses at UCA Epsom. Not sure if you have heard of UCA before. The University for the Creative Arts is one of the leading providers of specialist art and design education in Europe. We are a diverse community of about 7,000 students from more than 70 countries and are based around five campuses in Surrey and Kent.

All fashion courses at UCA Epsom are great. I have a few friends studying there. They are second years now and they are truly enjoying it and learning so much from there chosen specialist areas. The best thing is that Epsom is mainly Fashion specialized so for 3 years of your degree you get to met and collaborate with students from a variety of related subjects like fashion designers, management and marketing students or even fashion journalist students. I think this is an awesome opportunity to be immersed in the fashion world from the beginning and build some great contacts. Other than the Epsom campus, Rochester and Farnham also have some fashion related courses.

If you want to find out a bit more about the fashion related courses available at UCA there is lots of information here: http://www.ucreative.ac.uk/fashion-textiles

As I said before, I am a current student at UCA and have been for almost 2 years now so if you have any questions rewarding student life or anything else please don't hesitate to ask.

Hope you find this useful.

Eliel.
