work experience/english/oxford

im in yr 12 and i want to apply to oxford nxt year to do english. however i feel like i should probably get some impressive work experience under my belt this summer. anyone got ne ideas?

Journalism and debating would be good, they were things that I did/do and thoroughly enjoyed. I also worked at a criminal defence solicitors for a week which was great and I found it really interesting. I also worked in a French bakery for a week. I didn't apply to Oxford though and I didn't apply for English, I applied to Cambridge for French and Spanish, but they are usual activities for all arts students as they develop reasoning skills. I wouldn't do them just for the sake of applying for Oxford though, do them if they sound interesting, not for the hell of it.

yes, I would definitely say newspaper, or something for the BBC. Any competitions or publications that involve writing would be good. Also, any projects such as for example going to help out at a primary school listening to kids read or something might go down well on the charity side.
